UK tyre brand comparison

Premium, mid-range and budget brands compared on price, lifespan, EU label ratings and the only number that really matters in the long run: cost-per-mile.

The real question

Are expensive tyres worth it?

Think in pence-per-mile, not pounds at the till. A £50 budget tyre that lasts 18,000 miles costs roughly 0.28p/mile. A £140 premium tyre that lasts 45,000 miles costs roughly 0.31p/mile. The price gap shrinks dramatically. And then there is safety: an A-rated wet tyre stops up to 18 metres shorter than an E-rated tyre from 50mph.
